Marriage License
Requirements
for a marriage license issued by Buffalo County:
- Applicants
must be at least 17 years of age to be married in the state
of Nebraska. Since legal age in the State of Nebraska is
19, parental consent is required for applicants who are
17 or 18 years of age. The parental consent forms are available
at the County Clerk's office.
- Both
applicants must appear together at the County Clerk's office
between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on weekdays.
- The
fee for a marriage license is $15.00, CASH ONLY.
- One
form of identification is required-such as a driver’s
license or passport. Click here

- Need
to know birthplace of bride and groom, but a birth certificate
is not required.
- Social
Security numbers of bride and groom are required, but cards
do not have to be shown.
- If
an applicant has been divorced, we need to know the date
of divorce decree. A copy of the divorce decree is not required.
- Applicants
must supply the full names and birthplaces of both parents
(including the mother's maiden name).
- No
blood test is required and there is no waiting period.
- The Marriage
License is good for one year from the date of issuance and can
be used in any county in Nebraska.
- All marriage
licenses obtained in Nebraska are public record.
Certified
copy of a Buffalo County marriage license
To receive a Buffalo County certified marriage license, send
a $5.00 check or money order and the following information:
- Name
of groom.
- Name
of bride (including maiden name)
- Month/day/year
of marriage. (Must have been issued in Buffalo County for
us to send a copy)
